Title: Determine BIOS version from retail box? (970a-ud3)
Post by: ziphnor on December 10, 2013, 05:44:41 pm
Hi i just ordered a Gigabyte GA970A-UD3 listed as rev 1.0. I intended to use it with an fx-6300 cpu but just noticed that it needs bios f7 to support that cpu. Is there any way i can tell whether it has bios f7 or later without opening the box? ( from information on the sticker perhaps? ) If not i will have return it as i dont have an older am3 cpu to use for the upgrade.

Hi there,

I don't think you can identify the BIOS version from the label on the box. Having checked the several Gigabyte motherboard boxes I have lying around none of them show which BIOS version was installed.

Thanks, what about a production date? I am thinking that if its been produced some time after the f7 bios was released then it probably has the new bios. But perhaps that is not on the sticker either?
