Title: GA-P55A-UD4P doesn't boot when connecting to Marvell SATA3
Post by: Lotem on February 01, 2014, 09:00:36 pm
I've had this motherboard for 4 years, and I remember when I first purchased it and assembled my PC I tried connecting my SATA3 HDD to the Marvell SATA3, and the PC didn't even boot to allow access to BIOS.
Connecting the drive to the SATA2 connection worked and I left it that way because I didn't want to bother myself with it.

Now, 4 years later, I got a new SSD and decided to try and connect it to the SATA3 connection, but surprise surprise, it didn't work again.
Same problem, PC doesn't load. Instead of the normal short beep on start it gives 1 long beep and 3 short ones(I'm pretty sure that's what it is, goes quite fast)
I again connected it to SATA2 instead, but now I want to solve this stupid problem. Feels like it's a faulty motherboard. (I realize I might be too late, but would still like to know)
Is there anything I can do about it?
Thanks!

1 long and 3 short is a pci-e fault so it sounds like the marvell controller is faulty

lotem,
What BIOS rev are you running.  Has is ever been updated?  If it has been updated, set both the main BIOS and controllers BIOS (if applicable) to defaults.  Reconnect your drive and retest POST.
