Hello! This is my first post. So happy to have found a dedicated gigabyte forum. Well to the point, I am in the middle of upgrading an older system to give it a little life and some new muscle. I was looking at the vishera fx-8320 and wanted to know if i could drop it into my motherboard without any problems. I assume that am3+ cpu is backwards compatible to run on a am2+/am3 socket. Unless I am wrong, please any advice would be wonderful and appreciated. The board supports phenom, athlon and sempron, but i have no idea about the support for FX cpus. Gigabyte's website only as a final bios update in 2010 and that seems a bit aged. Thank you in advance :)
Currently specs:
Athlon II x4 620 propus 2.4ghz
GA-MA790X-UD4P AM3/AM2+/AM2
4gb ddr2 800 ram
samsung ssd
2x 300gb seagate hd
wanting to upgrade to AMD FX-8320 Vishera 3.5GHz (4.0GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W 8-Core Desktop Processor FD8320FRHKBOX
Thank you in advance :)

Hi there,
sorry to say that the simple answer to this is no. http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=3038 This board has the wrong socket for AM3+ Support.
