Title: Gigabyte UD2 mATX - Max memory configuration?
Post by: kawasakiguy37 on March 18, 2014, 07:22:49 pm
I have a mATX UD2 mobo which has been great for me - I use it in a mobile video editing rig. However at this point I really need more RAM - I'm currently at 8, and I've read this mobo can only go up to 16GB

Do I have use 4 x 4GB to get 16GB or can I get a 2 x 8GB and run it in slots 1 and 3?

Is there anyway to get this mobo to bootup with 32gb of ram? I need as much as I can get

Currently looking at these unless I need to go with 4 x 4gb:

The board only support 16-gb and I would update the bios too. On which to get that is hard to say.

The board was built before they had 8-gb sticks. I can't really tell you if the channel slots will support the 8-gb sticks.

Did some more forum searching and came across some interesting info

The Gigabyte UD3 (the succesor to this board I believe) also seems to use the intel p55 chipset and people have reported running a full 32 gigs ram no problem (recognized in windows and ubuntu). They also stated 2 x 8GB sticks works great

How similar are these two boards?
