I built PC for a friend using the Gigabyte H81M-H mobo and 4Gb 1600Mhz RAM - it defaulted to 1333hz, I was told this is normal...thing is the RAM multiplier only goes to x14 (1400Mhz) despite its saying it supports 1600Mhz out the box>?
1 x 4Gb Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600Mhz 1.5v
1 x Giagbyte H81M-H
can anyone please help? ive been told I have to mess on with the "timings" to get it working at 1600Mhz but I dont believe this to be true because in past systems ive built with 1333Mhz RAM I have simply changed the multiplier to x16 and that was that!!
something aint right here and would appreciate some help.

Did you set it to the profile? Most of the time you don't have to set timings on Intel board.

Usually you have to set oc.profile to xmp.

Mine too. I have gigabyte h81m-hd3 and my cpu ıntel haswell g3220 and my gskill 1600mhz 1.5v memories works at max 1400mhz. I reset cmos, flashed bios and after nothing changed. What is the problem?

snadge,
Everything these guys is saying is true. Enable X.M.P and set target to 1600mhz if available.

XMP profile set 1600mhz but bios limit max 1400 mhz. Bios limit the multiplier max 14.
