I have a computer with the specs listed below. It has 8gb ram, and I want to upgrade it to 16gb. I purchased 2 sticks of memory of the same type to upgrade to 16GB (This is what I bought G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1333MHz DIMM PC3-10666 Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL). I popped these sticks in the empty slots of my computer, and started the computer up to hear a bunch of beeps and then the computer shut down. I then unplugged the computer and pulled out the new Ram, and everything is fine. Any suggestions on what I can do to see what I did wrong? Is there any problem with adding this new Ram? When I purchased this Ram it was listed as 8GB (2X4GB). Can I just add another pair of memory sticks labeled 8GB (2X 4GB)? or do I have to find ram labeled 16GB (4X 4GB)?
Existing Computer Specs:
Gigabyte System Board GA-H57M-USB3
Intel Core i3 540 Processor, 3.07GHz, 4M Cache, Dual Cores with Dual Threads, Socket LGA1156
8 Gb DDR3-1333, RipJaws Brand, (2 x 4GB Sticks)
Thanks,
W

Sometimes ram with different lots will work but to be sure you should always buy your ram in kits so it is all the same lot number. On my GA890 fxa I had 8 gigs of gskill and wanted 16 so I had some spare in the closet that caused it to do the same as yours so I bought a 4 x 4 gig kit and it has worked flawlessly.
