I have already compared the overview and specifications on Gigabyte's Z97X-UD5H-BK website for both Revisions but unable to find any differences. Does anyone know the difference(s) between Rev 1.0 and Rev 1.1 or can tell me where I can find out what the changes are?
Thanks

Hi there,
sorry to say that you will probably not get a definitive answer to this conundrum. Gigabyte, along with all other motherboard manufacturers, are pretty reticent about stating what changes have been made to different revisions of their hardware.

The only thing that I could find on the GB site was.:
Audio Noise Guard with LED path lighting
No idea if they changed anything else under the bonnet.

Wonder why they do that... I guess they want to clear the older revision inventory.

Thanks, I missed that one line they added, even GB's own comparison tool didn't pick it up.
I just downloaded both the latest BIOSes for each Revision and compared the hashes and they are identical. Well I suppose I'll just have to wait until the next BIOS release and compare again and that will tell me if anything else was changed. Usually they change the BIOS version names and the hashes don't match but currently they are the same.

Ok they definitely updated the website overview today, they added a picture of the LED path lighting as well.

I got a response from Gigabyte's Esupport, they lied straight my face and said there's no changes at all and they did it for "A new BIOS release". If that's the case they should be on Rev 1.4 since there's been 5 BIOS releases so far :P.

I actually wonder if it is true though. Maybe when they ship a version of the BIOS the minor revision number changes, and if they make a hardware change, the major change.
i.e rev 1.0 Ships with F1 and rev 1.1 ships with F5? Just a thought.
I just got mine.. and it is rev 1.0.. so I would love to know the answer too.

Board revisions usually denote changes in the hardware that was available when the parts needed for assembly are purchased in bulk.
They can also occur if a change is implemented (feature added) for example
Or, when the manufacturer discovers an 'Uh-Oh" flaw they are unable to overcome through software or BIOS revision.

I just picked up the board, and recieved Rev 1.0
It shipped with BIOS version F4. Upgraded to F6 without issue.
I'm not sure what Rev 1.1 looks like with the LEDs but I'm kind of glad I don't have that version in case they are too noticeable through my tower's window.

And I just purchased rev1.1 (thats what the store had). Path lighting present, but I won't ever see it unless I go under my desk and look through my side window ;D. The number of BIOS revisions released for a particular board is NOT denoted in the revision number. The following are examples of things that could constitute a revision change:
-Changing the location of a FAN header or board layout
-Adding LED path lighting
-Implementing/using a later revision of a controller chip, sound chip, etc
-Changing the brand of capacitors used
-Adding support for additional CPUs, types of memory, enhanced compatibility (BIOS)
Stuff like that. The board revision allows the manufacturer keep track of the hardware components/configuration and/or features implemented when a board is produced and released.

shadow it is about time you got with the program here. Hope you like your new hardware. ;D
I have lights on my x99. Like shadow said the only time i see them if I pull it out of the desk.
I have to agree that most rev update are hardware & repairs. Plus unless you call, look at it at a store, or eBay.
You have a 50/50 chance you will not get a newer rev board. Most of the stuff I get has already been tested through a review.
