Title: Problem with GA-H87-D3H
Post by: Quigon on January 23, 2015, 02:19:22 pm
Hello I am currently making myself a computer and I am running into a big problem :

Proc : intel i54690K
MB : GA-H87-D3H
RAM : Kingston HX316C10F/8
PSU : Corsair VS350

After installing this MB, I encounter a major problem : All the fans start turning for about 1-2 seconds, then they stop, it holds for a while then starts the same cycle again.
It never posts. I have tried with 2 motherboards (same model) after getting a replacement from Amazon.
I have tried with 2 processors (same model) after getting a replacement from Amazon.
I have tried with 3 power supplies.
I have tried by getting the MB out of the case and onto the box for example.

The ATX MB plug is plugged in, the Processor plug is plugged in, the processor's heat sink is also plugged into the MB.

I am wondering if the processor is at all compatible with the MB. The support list says it is. I can not check the BIOS version because it does not post so I have no way of reaching that screen. It is whatever version is put by defaults on the boards at manufacturing.

I am not sure what to do now...

Thanks in advance for your help.

Is the CPU power connector plugged in?

Hi,

Yes it is.

In the meantime I have seen stuff about H87 chipsets not being ready out of the box for Haswell Refresh procs. A Bios version upgrade could be required. Tough without a compatible processor.
I might be getting a replacement MB using a Z97 chipset that accomodate these procs with no Bios upgrade.
