Title: GA-870A-USB3L v3 and FX - 6300 overclocking
Post by: deejayburnout on April 25, 2015, 05:54:43 pm
Good Afternoon Peeps

Here is my current setup.

Motherboard:Gigabyte GA-870A-USB3L
CPU:AMD Phenom II X4 965 OC @ 3.8 GHz with Hyper 212 Evo Cooler
Memory:2 x SK Hynix 2 GB DDR3-1333
Storage:120gb OCZ Vertex 460, 120GB Kingston SV200, 500GB Segate Drive, 2 x 1TB WD Drive, 640GB WD Drive
Graphics card:Asus HD 7850 DirectCU II V2 2GB
PSU:OCZ 750 Watt
Case:Sharkoon Green T9
Operating System:Windows 8.1 64bit
Monitor:LG 34UM65-P Ultrawide
Internet:6MB Plusnet

i have just ordered my FX-6300 CPU and wondering about overclocking.
I have ok knowledge about overclocking and on my Phenom 2, i was able to overclock with increasing the multiplier and voltage.

i know the CPU has boost speed to 4.1GHZ, but will this need to be turned off in the bios. is there any other thing i need to consider using this new chip. Will it be as simple as it was on the Phenom buy just increasing multiplier and voltage.

looking to have around a overclock to about 4.3GHZ if possible.

any advice would be much appreciated

Morning.

Fitted my fx-6300 last night and turned off core boost, cool and quite and c1e.

set my overclock to 4.1ghz on stock voltage and ran a stress test.

started to notice that the multiplier went from 20.5 to 15 for a sec then jamp back up.

i adjusted the voltage up a notch and tired again and same issue.

Anyone know why this might happen.

thanks
