Title: 890GPA-UD3H not running on SATA-3 6GB/s on RAID-1 Setup
Post by: GothixKhan on May 02, 2015, 01:48:24 am
Hello gigabyte forums!
This is my first time posting, so if anything is out of bounds, please let me know.

Now, concerning my problem

I have 2 WD Black running in RAID-1 setup for optimal mechanical drive speed.
However, Speccy reports that the drives use SATA-2 3Gb/s instead of their maximum speed, which is the SATA-3 6Gb/s

The sata3 controller is enabled via bios and everything is as it should be. do I need to set any configurations differently or maybe I have to disable something? Please let me know at your earliest convenience.
It's been more than 4 yrs since I own this board and I never noticed it wasn't running to its full potential.
Thank you geeks

EDIT: For those who are wondering, the mobo revision is 2.1. Thanks again

I have myself 2 older WD Blacks of 750GB and no matter the AMD board used they have been always reported with a SATA version(2.6) lower than 3.0, but higher than 2.0 :)
The onboard controller may be picky about some drives, but if the drives are a little old the speed is the proper one.

What drives are they exactly ?!

I ve had myself the mobo version 2.1.Try both controllers and see which perfroms better real speed wise no matter the reported SATA version.Mechanical drives are not able to fill SATA 2.0 bus anyway.
