Title: USB 3 driver wont install on GA-H77M-D3H (rev. 1.0)
Post by: snadge on July 28, 2015, 05:48:19 pm
Hi

I have a Gigabyte H77M-D3H v1 mobo and the USB 2 ports all work but the USB 3 ports do not

the actual driver from the website says "not compatible"...??? its windows 7 x64 and thats the one i downloaded, one of the exe's actually has the word DELL in it?

ive installed a 3rd party Etron USB3 driver with no luck

as i cant use mys supposedly faster ports, i believe they are native Intel ports too

can anyone help please?

thanks

Greetings,
Your board doesn't have a 3rd party USB chip.  All USB 2/3 support is provided by H77.

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4143#driver

Intel v1.0.5.235
I don't see any reference to "Dell"....  "mb_driver_intel_usb3.exe"

Do you have a mother board disk that came with the mother board. The driver should be on there.

Ok, now I see the dell reference.

Used...  >mb_driver_intel_usb3.exe /a ... to extract the exe.

What does your device manager say under Universal Serial Bus Controllers?  Any red x's or yellow exclamations?

Above is not Gig board.... Its a laptop.

Hi,
Not sure what point you are trying to make with the photos.  I know your board is H77 based and stated this in my first reply.  I questioned your reference to the dell component before unpacking the download myself.  I attributed this to you experimenting with drivers from other manufacturers for a chipset (Etron) controller you don't have  ::)

So, this is newer than what Gigabyte is offering.  You are missing 3.0 support from Device Manager.  Let us know if this helps.  Please uninstall any 3rd party drivers for hardware your system doesn't have/support first.  Restart.

Please restart again after install and test.

you reply was "Greetings,

the ETRON may have been my other Gigabyte board

still the same, im not using any 3rd party drivers and .INF and IMI installed from windows 10x64 section

but when i put my USB 2 card reader in it works, when i put my USB 3 usb stik or any usb 2 stick it doesnt work

I guess its me.  The title of your thread is "H77...". I said all support is provided by H77...  I don't see how this "implies" anything except H77?   ???  Let's just remain on task  :-X

After re-reading things, I see we both missed something important.  What BIOS rev are you on?  Also, have you made any changes to USB settings in BIOS?  I know both the Z77 and Z87 Rev 1.0 boards had USB issues with some users failing to get USB 3 support at all.  I thought this was isolated to boot time.  Problematic in 7 since only 8 and now 10 has native xHCI support.  I have a Z77 board from another vendor.  It doesn't have an USB 3 issues.  I skipped the Z87 chipset because of these problems.  I believe the issues were resolved with later board revisions and BIOS updates.

Hopefully one of these suggestions will put you on the right track.
