Title: Windows 7 won't boot after install
Post by: kinappy on April 02, 2016, 04:12:13 pm
Hi All,

I recently bought the Gigabyte h110m-s2h.

After downloading the Gigabyte windows image tool I was able to install Windows 7 from USB which looked like it went ok.

After the install Windows rebooted to finish the installation but it won't boot.

It goes past the Gigabyte logo then the pc resets and keeps doing this.

I'm able to enter the bios but can't boot afterwards.

I tried with a Windows 8 installation and that worked fine but the Windows 8 is only licensed for upgrades so I need to get Windows 7 on there first.

Has anybody any suggestions how I can get this to boot? I'm not sure if it is a bios setting but at the moment it is set with the default optimized settings.

Thanks and Regards

Did you change the boot order to boot from the hard drive we have seen that in the pass where it wouldn't boot for some reason.

Thanks for your reply.

It's not the boot order, even during boot menu I can select F12 and pick my harddisk from the list.

This PC has no dvd so hard disk is the only option in the list.

Hi

I tried rufus but there is an issue with this motherboard and windows 7 drivers so I have to create a usb with the Gigabyte windows image tool or the usb drive is not recognized once the system boots for the installation.

Are you able to run a start up repair from the installation media?

Have you verified the BCD contains correct information?

I haven't looked at your board.  Are you certain your BIOS settings are correct for legacy boot?

Strange that 8 installs and runs and 7 won't.

Thanks all for any replies.

I was not able to get around this after checking all bios settings etc but.

After I installed Windows 7 which would not boot, I tried a full Windows 8 install using my upgrade key and afterward it was activated and now upgraded to Windows 10 which is activated and working fine.

Thanks and Regards,
