Title: GTX 1070 xtreme gaming issue
Post by: Zlatje on December 10, 2016, 01:49:25 pm
Hi everyone.

I finally got my new card yesterday but im running into a problem. It started with playing world of warcraft , the game would freeze for a second or 3 at certain landmarks in the game. I never got an error message , but having a look in windows 10 event logs i found out its a "display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered" issue. I thought it might be a driver issue so i removed those using DDU and reinstalled them : issue still occured.
I then removed the drivers again and reverted back to older drivers. The problem seemed fix as i visisted the problem landmarks ingame numerous times and no crash. It did however have some small hickups in other areas now.

Then last night i decided to play some Overwatch , in about 2 hours of playing in total i had the display driver crash on me 3 times. This morning i tried one last time to remove drivers with DDU and install the latest drivers, Warcraft would once again crash in the same areas it did originally using the same drivers and Overwatch would crash aswell.

Should i return the card or do any of you know a possible fix for this? Thank you in advance.

Try a clean Windows 10 installation first.
Update the system and try again. That's what I would will do. :)
When I instaled my 1070 in the same system that I had a 970 before, the system does not working well. After a clean Windows instalation, everything run as intended.

I tried that just now , sadly it didn't work for me. What i did just notice though , is that if i put the card in eco mode it doesnt crash. So the card can't handle its own factory overclock?

It's very strange, man. Well, try to put your problem in the Gigabyte website in support. Noone of gigabyte read the threads of this forum anyway (shame on you gigabyte). Maybe they can tell you something about this problem in there. Good luck.
