Title: Any owners of X170 Extreme ECC here? Is it Intel SGX ready?
Post by: triffid on May 29, 2017, 10:14:08 pm
I am sorry for this duplicated post. In addition to the older post, I am also looking for any owners of X170 Extreme ECC, which is probably pretty rare motherboard.

Motherboard manufacturers added Intel Software Guard Extensions option into BIOS only recently. It is never present in the initial BIOS release. Thus it is not easy to tell whether a mobo supports it or not unless you actually own the board with latest BIOS (F20) installed. If you use it with KabyLake, even better.

Can you check your BIOS and tell me, please? It should be under Peripherals tab.

I am owner of a GA-X170-EXTREME-ECC to answer 1st question.
I use Xeon E3-1245 V5 SkyLake, which does support  SGX, per Intel spec.
This reply is 14 months from original post, but wanted to answer SGX question.
I do not use SGX, and did not see it in F20, F21b, or F21e, all of which I took PrtScn's of bios pages.
I see it in F21f, which I received via attachment from esupport.gigabyte.com 9apr2018, published 9mar2018.
It is not yet posted to download page as of today @

Attachment is jpg of bios page from F21f , peripherals, cropped to fit size limit.

Greetings,
Just to follow up.  While the Z170 supported SGX, Gigabyte did not implement it until the Z270 boards were released.  To my knowledge, they never released it on the Z170 boards.

Sorry Shadow, discussing X170 not Z170, which has C236 chipset supporting Xeon & ECC. And of all the manufacturers, GigaByte was only one using the term X170 for C236 board and X150 for C232 board, none used Z170 which refers to it's own chipset.
I personally did not see SGX support in bios till I got copy of Beta Bios F21f: publish date for F21f was 9mar2018.
GA-X170-EXTREME ECC user manual made no reference. In bios it shows up on Peripherals {see attchd jpg)

Greetings,
Yes, I realized X170 after re-reading.  Thank you.  So you have to request a revision from eSupport.  So not officially released.  Hard to say if it will ever be added to the downloads page for the X170.  I say this because of the 14 months which elapsed before you got your revision.  Time will tell I suppose.
