Title: Xeon's X5687 in the GA-X58A-UD3R v2
Post by: Aussie Allan on June 03, 2017, 05:33:35 pm

Been a loooong time since my last post so see if there's some knowledgeable people around with this old mobo query ...

Have had this X58A-UD3R running in my editing tower for years with a i7-950 (SLACR) water cooled @ 4gig ... got my hands on a Xeon (1366) X5687@3.66 .... thing is I've seen many Xeon Xxxxx chip installs , some supported officially... some not and all seem to be running FF Bios.

Now I remember seeing someone post the X5687 up and running in a UD3R v2 but buggered if I can find the white paper again ... can anyone confirm the X5687 will run in the quoted MoBo....

 Regards

 Aussie Allan

Hi Mate,
Welcome back to the forums.  I see you've helped a lot of people here.  Unfortunately, I don't have much in the way of confirmation, but it does seem like it might be possible with BIOS "FF"

Success here on UD5..

Looks like there can be issues setting the multiplier.  RAM might play a role here as well.  You'll probably have to test, but you won't hurt anything and may just be out some thermal compound in the end.

Cheers
