Title: Gigabyte X58A-UD3R Ram issue
Post by: Jadi on June 11, 2017, 09:58:09 pm
Im having issues with ram on my board. It gets past the bios screen and onto the text thing but then it says checking DRAM size and crashes. I have checked the slots and the cpu socket for damage but I cant seem to see any. I have 2 sticks in slots 1 and 3. Il attach photos of the socket and of the bios M.I.T Current Status screen.

Any help is apreciated. Thanks

Hi,
Your post is missing information others might need to assist you.

Did the system ever work correctly?
Is this a new issue? (history)
Has something changed? BIOS Rev, Hardware, new RAM?
Is the RAM on the QVL for this board?
Have you tested the RAM using memTest?

It was fine at one point. The RAM now only works in slot 1 and 2 :/ I have attached a photo ofbthe socket. Sorry for not responding, the file was too big originally and then I forgot to post. Thanks for any help you can give me!

I have tested the sticks and they are fine. I had two sticks in slots 2 and 4 before I had to move them into slots 1 and 2

You might have a dead slots now. It does happen. I have many of the 1366 boards do that. At this point the only thing can do is put the memory in the slots that work. Or try and find another board to replace that one. There is many people on line that repair MB. That would be another route too.

I borrowed some sticks from a friend and determined its a channel based issue. I cant have 2 sticks in the triple channel slots. I have to have 3 minimum so I tried 4 in slots 1,2,3,4 and they all show up so the slots are working definately. Thanks for your input.
