Title: Updating BIOS on X79 UD3
Post by: Dangerous_Dave on July 20, 2017, 11:05:11 am
I'm trying to update the BIOS on my X79 UD3 so it works with Ivy Bridge E CPUs, however Gigabyte appears to have disabled/neglected the most straightforward ways: There is no Windows utility to update the BIOS (the link for @BIOS for X79 motherboards simply goes nowhere despite still existing on the website), and QFlash reports that it is too old so has gone into retirement.

What is the recommended method for updating the BIOS to F20 for this motherboard please?

You should be able to download @BIOS from here: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-X79-UD3-rev-10#support-dl for your motherboard. You'll need to scroll down the page to the Utilities heading to find it. I have checked the links for both the Rev1.0 & 1.1 motherboards, from all sites and can download @BIOS without a problem so you should be able to just pick the location nearest to you to download from

Another option is to create a bootable pendrive and flash the BIOS using the spiflashtool. If you're not sure how to do this, check out this guide: https://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/27576-bios-flashing-qflash-guide.html over on TweakTown.
