Title: Win 10 Boot USB Drive doesn't work
Post by: dub_d on July 23, 2017, 02:07:51 pm
Hi,

I have just bought the Gigabyte Brix i3 barebone and installed a 120GB M2.SSD and 4GB Ram. I'm currently creating a USB boot drive on a mac with unetbootin app.

So when I turn on the Brix without the boot usb drive it loads straight into UEFI Shell. I can enter the Bios by typing <exit> and can see my RAM and SSD correctly.

When I start the Brix with the Boot drive plugged in, it goes to the Gigabyte logo screen and then states 'Failed to initialise Library'.

This is as far as I'm getting and it's pretty frustrating. Hopefully someone can help me load the OS on.

Thanks

Hi there,

Don't use a Mac for creating the USB drive. You need to do it on a Windows PC for it to work.

Well I've hit another issue now.

I'm now getting the 'Reboot and select proper boot device' error message. This happened when I enabled CSM. I'm going to pick up a wired keyboard and mouse to try to get back into bios as I'm currently using an airmouse without a proper Del key

SOLUTION

#1 - Use a Windows PC to generate the USB Boot Drive - even if the app says you can use it on a mac

#2 - Use a wired keyboard and mouse (for install)

#3 - Don't enable CSM in BIOS (for me anyway)
