Title: 15 out of 16gb available? - Gigabyte X79-UP4
Post by: willhub on August 15, 2017, 10:19:55 pm
Hi, specs below:

Intel Core i7-4820K
Gigabyte X79-UP4(Rev 1.0) Motherboard.
16Gb Corsair DDR3 1600Mhz (8x2Gb Sticks)
HD7980 GPU
Corsair VX550W PSU

The Pc has been running a bit choppy, freezing in games and BSOD's, but I think it was a bad windows install as the USB 3 ports stopped working, re-installed Windows and all is fine with those now.

The main problem is, the motherboard bios is reporting the full ram of 16gb, but exactly 1gb is missing and not available for us, where is it????

Any ideas how to get this GB of ram back?

I have 16 gigs and it reads 15.57 so I guess the operating system uses the other for page file or so on.
