Hi, I have a GA-MA770-UD3 2.0 with FI bios and a Phenom II 550 BE.
I was trying to unlock the other 2 cores and when setting in HYBRID MODE + AUTO ACC the system no longer boots. It doesnt even powers (the fans are off). Tried to increase CPU Vcore and NB Vcore and the same result.
I got really tired of it and put the DEFAULT OPTIONS and everything went smooth.
After that, I wanted to overclock the processor and read that enabling ACC on AUTO + AMD OverDrive could help big time on overclocking, and found out that after that putting ACC on AUTO my pc no longer powers on (like before).
So, the problem is that I think there is something wrong with ACC on my motherboard (could be why I cant unlock) because it should work at least with default settings and AUTO set.
What do you think? Any help? Thanx

Well, I'm guessing them other cores are DEFECTIVE, therefore they were disabled for a reason.
You took a risk in assuming that you'd be able to unlock the other cores. While some ae not defective, your ones are. Don't worry, Its happened to me :) But im not really bothered to be honest.

Yes, It could be that the other 2 cores are indeed defective. But what I am really saying is, despite that I gave up unlocking, I cant enable ACC on bios because my computer wont start up, and ACC is required on AMD OverDrive to perform special funcions that are not available with ACC disabled. The question is, why cant I enable ACC?

hi matcarfer sounds like a bios problem thats where i whould start
found this thread with ur board a cpu http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/535501-amd-phenom-ii-core-unlocking-guide.html
hope this helps

Hi, thanks for all the replies, but I still have not found solution!

hi this is how mine is set in the bios
in advanced clock calabration>
>ec firmware selection ( hybrid)
>advanced clock calabration ( all cores )
>value -2%
you can test core by core in there to
do you have the same cpu mine sits at 40c unload ? as the 65nm is slightly hotter chip have a good cpu cooler
hope that helps

Hi, I tried but the same behavior occurs. I think there is a problem with ACC in Bios. If I enable ACC the system no longer boots, no matter if I put EC Firmware on default or hybrid...

hi .think i have it, have you used bios live update if not why not .use it , i see there was 1 bios update called" add cpu core control option" that sounds about right for ACC
hope that helps

I'm having the same issue with the same board and PII 555BE and need a solution as I really don't want to go through the hassle of returning this board..
j2o, I don`t see that option when using the @BIOS utility? My board came with F2 and I updated to F3 but it made no difference, and I haven't seen that particular update.
Any and all help for us is greatly appreciated! Thanks :)

Hi. I'm glad I'm not the only one... (sorry for you, Jevon). I will ask for support on gigabyte site because it seems that it is a strange problem.
The option "ADD CPU CORE CONTROL" is on the bios itself, and it seems that you have REV 1.0 of this motherboard, and that option is not present at the moment for your revision. The last bios for your motherboard is "F9E" and you can update using @Bios or going here:
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2982#dl
Try updating and test ACC again and let me know.

Hi,
Can I add a note of caution with regard to using @BIOS?
Although it seems a simple and easy way to update BIOS it is not the best way to do so. @BIOS can sometimes lead to real problems with a screwed up Flash and there are several posts on this forum and throughout the NET regarding this. Flashing BIOS through the OS is not as reliable as it may seem and although it may work once or twice the chances are much higher of a corrupt FLASH.
If you are going to flash BIOS you should really use the QFlash Utility (check your manual for instructions or search this site) as it is a much better method for updating.

Thanks for the advice absic, I'll consider doing it the old fashioned way for the next flash if there is to be one!
Matcarfer, it seems I was a bit too hasty in saying I have the exact same board as yours! Mine is actually the GA-770TA-UD3 listed here:
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3272#ov
for which the F3 bios is the most up to date I can find. We're still experiencing nearly identical issues though. I'll give some more details on what happens with mine:
With EC Firmware set to Hybrid, it does the update and restarts. If this is all I do, the computer boots up just fine. Then when I switch ACC to Auto (or any other option besides Disabled) and save/exit, with F3 Bios windows loads fine but ACC has been automatically switched back to Disabled. With the F2 bios, Windows 7 64-bit was freezing on the Windows loading screen and I had to manually switch ACC back to Disabled to get it to load properly.
This computer is actually for my sister and I'd like to see if I can unlock the extra cores, but at the very least I want to be able to do a decent overclock so I hope this can be resolved for us! Googling around it seems there are a mix of other users who get it work just fine (ACC with EC Firmware set to Hybrid), and others who have the same problem that we are having. Very strange! ???
I've also inquired to tech support and I'll post it here if/when I hear back.. until then, hopefully some crafty person(s) can help us out :)
