Title: GA-H55M-S2H Can't load Windows 7
Post by: Ziggy52555 on June 03, 2010, 01:26:02 am: Hi there, I've just built this computer GA-H55M-S2H MOBO running the Intel i5-750, 4 GB (2X2gb) DDR3 1333 PNY. Here's the problem, when loading Windows 7 Professional 32-bit, like alot of people it seems to take forever, but in my case I only get to the starting setup and after 6-8 minuter there the cursor quits going around and around, and I'm frozen. All parts are new and here is what I've done so far. Replaced Motherboard (with same type), Tried 2 different PCIe Video cards, Tried 2 different HDD's. I've ran the disk in an older computer from the desktop and I get to the EULA in less than 5 minutes, I've never gotten that far in this new system. I've used 3 different memory programs to test the RAM, each time it shows everything is OK. I've taken voltage reading at the power supply (again everything is OK). And post lights like everyone else is green/green/amber/red... Any help would be appricated, Thanks

Post by: Ziggy52555 on June 03, 2010, 03:20:21 pm: I've cleared BIOS, and loaded default settings. Hummmmmm I don't know if the floppy is disabled, but I don't have one in this computer. Also I forgot to mention I've done the thing with only using 1 stick of RAM at the slot clostest to the processor, back and forth and the slot away from the processor still no change...I have to ask what does disabling the floppy do?

Post by: Dark Mantis on June 03, 2010, 07:47:38 pm: The BIOS will look for a floppy drive at the start and can take quite some time before it decides that there isn't one and moves on. It can make things quicker if it knows that there isn't one installed.

Post by: carnyx on July 03, 2010, 10:13:56 am: I solved my problem of endless looping of the windows intallation, by unplugging the sata hard dri ve drive and fitting a new 'normal' hard drive with a parallel cable, and links set as 'master'.

Post by: Dark Mantis on July 03, 2010, 10:26:51 am: Well I am glad that you have managed to find a workaround but it is just that, not a solution. The board should work with a SATA drive.
