Really no problem :) when somebody made purchase earlier.

For example venganza registered his UD9 already.

Sure did, and here are the pics to prove it:

Any old competition is nice of course (not that I ever win, I am perhaps the unluckiest person alive, I never get a break), however a competition alone is little reason to purchase an expensive board.

Don't buy a UD9 because of a comp, that is just a nice little bonus (with reduced odds given the fewer people who will buy the board)...

Actually please do NOT PURCHASE A UD9, SO I HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF WINNING!!!!! :D

Seriously, if you are drawn to ultra nice high-end kit, you simply cannot go past the UD9, sure it is expensive, sure it is big, but then a flagship proof-of-concept board is going to be just that.

From the reviews I have read, and the testing by world class over clockers, all the reports of the UD9 hold up, it not only looks good, it has the pedigree and the muscle to perform damn well too.

Mine does everything except make coffee (maybe GA will do that later + cup holders hehe). There is tons of overkill on this board, but attention to detail is fantastic, right down to the rear panel CMOS_CLR button and the onboard PWR/RESET (bit too small but hey..).

The only drawback is that the XL-ATX size requires a larger case, but then there are more out there now (and the new HAF X looks decent).

I have bought quite a few GA boards over the years, and I was drawn to this one like a moth to a flame, even it costs a few dollar more, we must remember 2x SLI chips are not cheap etc, and the thing is very substantial, being rigid like you would not believe and with the most massive Silent Pipe I have ever seen on a GA board.

I am very happy with mine, no regrets (even though everyone bags me out about it), the majority of guys I know tend to say things like "wow" and "awesome" more than anything else. Not that bragging rights are important, buy hey E-PEEN + performance = WIN :)

Take a peek at the fuss it created when I announced I had bought the UD9:  http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1450885#r1 (http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1450885#r1)

I have only clocked my 930 to 4.3ghz then put it back to a nice moderate 3.8ghz, but it took me about 20 secs to do the run, and I didn't have to fiddle with vcore more than a notch or two up. I am running 1.15v @ 3.8ghz now, which is pretty damn low as most of you know.

Good thing is, I can drop a 980X in it some time down the track when I win the lottery.

Thanks to runn3R btw for fixing up my registration some days ago.

Actually I bet they are selling quite well.

You need to realise there is a seriously strong OC community who were buying EVGA Classifieds in droves, along with gamers for whom money is not an obstacle in terms of performance, together with people who just spend whatever because they can.

What is expensive to you and I, is nothing to someone else etc, it is all relative.

Given the UD9 has been breaking world records left, right and centre and the fact it is just plain over-the-top in just about every way, to a certain niche in the market it is a must-have, and I am sure many people who are considering higher-end boards will be drawn to it too.

It is a bit silly to speak of price, take a case for example, an Antec 200 will serve its purpose just as well as a Silverstone TJ07, but I know which one I would rather have, the same applies to a UD3/5, they are more than sufficient for most people, but others will prefer to opt for the UD7/9... such is life :)

I made my choice, and while I do take a bit of ribbing for it, generally speaking people are in awe of the sheer overkill of the thing.

I am not regretting it at all to be honest, I am simply bemoaning the fact I cannot afford to populate it with TRI-SLI GTX480 yet, I am unemployed you see, and money isn't something I have in abundance.

Sooner or later I will put the finishing touches on my gear I hope.

My earlier machine is running Linux now and doing a good job, I just need to get graphics sorted on the 930, I do have a GTX480 coming in a week or two, that is a start.

Your specs sounds nice especially for someone who is unemployed ;) I shouldn't think that you have time to work with that gear anyway. ;D I will post my setups when I get time.

Well like I said, I bought a lot of stuff 2nd hand, one complete Xaser w/Q8200 and water cooling for example for $690, same with GTX280 and other stuff, I have an eye for a bargain :)

I did of course buy the UD9 new, no danger of these babies hitting the 2nd hand market anytime soon.

A lot of my stuff is a up to a few years old too, and well you do tend to accumulate things. I find successful trading up by buying/selling bit and pieces over time, can slowly increase the quality of parts without actually spending much money.

Normally I am very canny when it comes to a good deal, but for certain things, like my Enermax 1250w supply and the UD9, I simply decided to throw logic and thrift out the door and go to town as it were, and very happy I did too :)

Running multi cards all at x16 later will be great, even if PCI scaling means you don't actually lose a lot otherwise, but I do hope benches show tangible benefits.

You sound just like me when it comes to computers, I also have built up a large supply of spare parts which I occasionly delve into for a build. However tha wife is alway moaning about how much stuff I keep in my office and so I have a clearout every so often to keep the peace. Why is it that as soon as you get rid of something you find that you really needed it :'(  As you say sometimes you have to pay top dollar to get the good gear. At least that's my excuse.

I was checking out your whirlpool site again yesterday, it seems to be very busy but also very informative :)

Even though my board, UD7, takes 3 graphics cards I 'm not planning to fill the slots anytime soon although  will upgrade to the 5870 or two hopefully.

indeed, even GB claims that "demand for the product is so great that it can't keep up with supply"

Back on topic, I had never set yes on an iPad until the other day actually (believe it or not). A friend brought one round and I was amazed at how far these things have got.

I once had a Palm Pilot years ago (and threw it away after a day or so)... So I was quite impressed to see one of these tiny things running a flight simulator, browsing the web and doing all manner of other neat stuff.

So again let me repeat, NO ONE SHOULD REGISTER AT ALL PERIOD, SO I CAN WIN ONE OF THESE...

:D

Good on GA for doing a giveaway, rather a nice touch.

Well you can't be all things to all men, Gigabyte essentially makes motherboards, most of the rest is just branding, such as power supplies, GA, like Antec, Corsair and many others do not make any units themselves.

I am much happier having companies like Gigabyte investing time and human resources into core products, rather than doing a half-arse job with a plethora of dissimilar hardware :)

There are plenty of other manufacturers doing similar ipad style products
Gigabyte are involved in all manner of things including laptops , so its not too far fetched for such a product to be launched by GA :)

I want Gigabyte to manufacture a Garlic Press with a nice silent pipe and 24 phase, so I can clock the crap out of it and end up with uber-nice pizza & pasta sauce :)

Yes as you say it is a bit pricey even for the extras. I thought my UD7 was bad enough and then they brought out the UD9 and doubled the price :o
Nice board though if you can afford it and the four GPUs to boot.
Must admit I am looking forward to the 6xxx generation GPUs even if I can't affords one it will bring down the price of the 5xxx series and then I can get one of those ;D
