Title: GA-H55M-UD2H not accepting 16Gb RAM
Post by: Wheelbarrow74 on December 05, 2017, 11:25:09 pm
Hello everyone,

Have come to this forum for a bit of advice!  I do hope you will be able to help.

I have a GA-H55M-UD2H (v1.3) that I am trying to get to run 16Gb ram.  The ram I have is 4 x 4Gb.

Corsair Vengeance (CMZ4GX3M1A16009B).
1600Mhz
9-9-9-25
1.50v
ver 5.12

The CPU:
Intel i7 870

BIOS:
version F12j

Now, when I install all 4 sticks, and turn on the computer it goes through the pre-load checks.  When it displays 'Preparing to load operating system' it pauses, then restarts and loads normally but with only 8Gb in use.  (In the Windows 10 system info it says 8Gb usable, 16Gb total).

Now, if I remove one of the sticks out of one of the B slots, it will load fine with 12Gb of usable ram.  I have tried the ram on different banks, so I don't believe the ram to be faulty?  It's only when I insert all 4 sticks.

What do you think the issue is here?  How can I try an resolve it?

The BIOS is set to fail safe defaults.

Really appreciate your help with this!

Greetings,
Try setting your timings and voltage manually for the RAM

9-9-9-24
1.5v

If it continues not to detect, raise the memory voltage to 1.55 > 1.57 > 1.6.  You will have to reboot and check properties in the OS between each change.  Do not go above 1.6v

The SPD speed of the RAM is 1333, a perfect match for your hardware.  I have used this RAM many times previously with good results.  Setting the memory up manually should do the trick.
