I have some TIFF scans that I want to reduce using the XP image resizer from Microsoft but when I try and reduce the pictures it will look like its working but then it doesnt do anything. Has anyone else had this problem who uses it?

i'v just done some and it works fine, could be that the scanned image has a 2 high DPI, try reducing this first if you can.
Let me know if this helps

just so you know I just also tried converting a file with the following specs to all the default formats and it works fine:
http://ir.library.oregonstate.edu/jspui/bitstream/1957/10763/12/Payne_C_W_Plate_I.tif
7248x14288
300dpi
24bit
296MB
Just try uninstalling the one you have and download it again from the Microsoft site:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe
if it still does not work, it may be a corrupt image your converting (try the above file if you have enough download bandwidth as it's just under 300MB)
if the above file is too big try one of the following:
http://ir.library.oregonstate.edu/jspui/bitstream/1957/10763/13/Payne_C_W_1998_Plate_II.tif
206MB
http://ir.library.oregonstate.edu/jspui/bitstream/1957/10763/14/Payne_C_W_1988_Plate_III.tif
45MB
p.s. i hope this site don't mind me using their images to test your pc!
