Title: You just plugged/unplugged a device in the audio jack
Post by: fadsarmy on April 22, 2018, 05:41:52 pm
Hello, I keep getting a popup "You just plugged/unplugged a device in the audio jack." This happens with the audio drivers from Gigabyte. I tried the Realtek ones but although these don't cause the popups, cause skipped audio. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Specs:

B250 HD3P
I5 7500

Greetings,
This is a feature called "port sense".  This is software detection of when you plug something into an audio port on the board.

If you aren't plugging something in and the behavior is happening randomly, the following is likely:

-One or more of the ports is damaged or faulty
-You board is incorrectly mounted in the case and is grounding or shorting to something metal

or (very common) the pins on the FP audio connector for the case do not match the header pins on the board.  This can be AC'97 audio or HD Audio, if the pins don't match you can get erroneous detections.  Sometimes you must select the type of connector in BIOS, but this is not always true.

Thanks for the reply. My case only has HD Audio wiring. I don't have anything connected to the rear ports because I use HDMI audio. I disconnected the front panel audio from the motherboard but still have the problem. That leaves the possibility of faulty ports.

If you are only using the rear ports, then something might be grounding, or there is an issue with the ports as you described.  Be sure to rule out settings in BIOS if applicable.

As above, I'm not using rear ports. Anyway, I've rma'd the board.

Ah, right.  Sorry, I mis-spoke.  Probably best your RMA'ed the board.
