Title: Dead Board G1 Sniper M3
Post by: Graceman on August 11, 2018, 01:26:14 pm
I have a dead board went into hibernation now I cannot get it to start Power supply will run and all voltages ok measured by multi meter by shorting out green to earth on 24 pin plug whilst unplugged from board
If i do this the power supply fan and the water cooler pump runs but not the fan in the case. All other cables connected to board.

With 24 pin cable plugged back into board
Tried shorting out power switch but still cannot get the board to wake up.
No bleeps no lights no fans or water pump.

Any suggestions on what to try next.

Greetings,
With the PSU disconnected, and MB battery left installed, try to reset your CMOS.  Believe your board only has a jumper.

Remove your GPU if installed and connect directly to onboard graphics.  Retest

**Optional step is to reseat all peripherals and connections.  Also bench test, but the fact that it was working and then stopped means this would be less likely to help or provide more information about the failure.

And, finally, try invoking boot from the back up BIOS.  Unfortunately,  without any power up activity, the board could be dead, but if doing the above steps doesn't help, you'll know you gave it your best effort.

Good Luck

I Have tried the cmos reset several times battery in & out Battery is giving steady 3.0 volt so its not that.
No GPU used onboard graphics for office use.

Have re-seated everything. Removed PSU to bench test.

I did try and boot without the OCZ PCIe drive but still nothing .

Looks like board or processor? If I change board what would you recommend to replace the G1 Sniper m3.

I'm more inclined to say its the board, but you can probably have the CPU tested for very little $$$ at a local computer shop.

Prices for a new Z77 MB are pretty outrageous.  I'd probably buy used.  Local computer shop or eBay.  Gigabyte, Asus or Asrock.

As you have stated look for a used are there no new updated newer options that will take the 1155 cpu I have

It looks as though a like for like replacement which makes build easy but was looking at an upgrade.

Yes, that's correct.  You have a socket 1155 CPU. Your options are limited.  Either replace with a board that has a compatible socket, or upgrade your platform.

It seems that if you want to replace a mothboard you have to replace the Motherboard & CPU I cannot currently find any LGA1155 socket motherboards.

A like for like replacement would be ok as it was quite fast. Any ideas of where I can get a replacement for my G1 sniper M3

I can only find Boards with B75 or H61 chipsets not Z77  No Gigabyte options.

Greetings,
Going to be hard if not impossible for you to find an identical replacement.  Its just too old.  You'd have to stumble on one.

I'd plan to reinstall your OS on a replacement.

Make sure the replacement comes with an I/O shield for the back of your case

Or..
