Title: PC Shuts Down Randomly
Post by: teknology9 on October 27, 2018, 08:45:00 pm
Hello All,

I am using a Z77X-UD5 and when I have set everything up on the test bench it functions for a while then the power cuts out. I have the following specification:

Z77X-UD5 MB with F14 BIOS
Corsair HX750 PSU
I5 3550 with Intel stock fan
Sapphire 7850 2G OC
Samsung 830 SSD
Samsung DVD
8 Gb of Mushkin 1333

The power setting in Windows 7 is performance

I have reseated the CPU,GPU,RAM - no change.

I am trying to install Windows 8.1 but it just cuts out, can anybody suggest any solutions?

Cheers,
Teknology9

Random thoughts...   Power, heat or damaged components?

Test PSU (is it stable)
Something is getting too hot  (CPU, chipset)
Or you have a bulging capacitor that you might not have noticed (something hidden)

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I've fixed it, the stock cooler wasn't attached correctly so it must have been overheating.

I am also checking for updates for Windows 8.1 64 bit and it seems to be taking ages for them to come through, any ideas?
Update: reconfigured the settings in the OS, all updates are installed
Cheers,
