Post by: paul_brassington on March 23, 2020, 03:11:07 pm
Intel i7 9700K
Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 3600MHz C18, High Performance Desktop Memory Kit (AMD Optimised) - Black
EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G5, 80 Plus Gold 850W, Fully Modular, Eco Mode with FDB Fan, 10 Year Warranty, Includes Power ON Self Tester, Compact 150mm Size, P
Problem: Upon starting on the cardboard box the 4 lights on the right bottom side only the top left light briefly ligths up in red - nothing else
The CPU fan starts and immediately stops
Absolutely nothing else happens no output on the HDMI connected monitor
This is the 2nd board, the first was returned to Amazon and now the replacement has the same problem. So the board is logically not the problem.
Using the eSupport has not solved this at all.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Greetings,

Since you have swapped the board, your right, it is not the problem.  The top left LED in the lower right quad array is a CPU initialization error.

Things to look at:

CPU
Memory
What / how things are connected.

Faulty CPU.  Rare, possible, but unlikely

Memory.  I am using GSkill 2x16GB 3200 C16 installed in DDR4_A2 & B2.  Your Corsair 3600 C18 should be ok as well.

What do you have connected to the 12v_2x2 or 2x4?

Do you have a CPU Fan connected to the CPU_FAN header?

Hi,

Connected the CPU lead from the PSU to the top right which you ringed in red (tried 2x4 and 3x4)
CPU fan is connected and to the CPU_FAN connector.
Motherboard connection from the PSU to the motherboard.

The CPU fan briefly starts but stops straight away.

I tried using just one RAM in each board and as I have two RAM boards tried the other in each slot as well, tried using two boards, nothing changes at all.

The PSU seems OK because when turned on the board lights to turn on briefly, the RAM ligths also turn on so there is power to the board.

The RAM should be OK but something is terribly wrong, the two boards just don't start up at all.

Any ideas very welcome and thanks for the Greeting.

Hi Paul,
It looks like either CPU or memory.

You never said want memory kit you were using?

At this point, I would test with another CPU, or RAM.  Whatever you can get your hands on easily.
