Title: Z490i WIFI setup
Post by: Qmaru on July 26, 2020, 03:14:14 pm
Hi everyone,

New to the forum here. Im struggling to setup the virtual WIFI for my mobo. The manual doesnt tell you anything and i cant find a single thing online telling you howto set it up.

From what i can gather from the free CFOS tool, i seem to be missing the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter from my adapter settings but i cant get it to appear no matter what commands ive tried from the guide.

Any advice or help please?

Greetings,
I am not familiar with the Z490i's "virtual Wi-Fi".  However, (as a start) I suggest you remove the cFOS utility which has been known to cause any number of problems and strange behavior with connectivity, negotiation and bandwidth.

I assume this is your board?:

On cursory inspection, I didn't see anything listed for "virtual Wi-Fi:

IntelĀ® Wi-Fi 6 AX201
WIFI a, b, g, n, ac with wave 2 features, ax, supporting 2.4/5 GHz Dual-Band
BLUETOOTH 5.1
Support for 11ax 160MHz wireless standard and up to 2.4 Gbps data rate
* Actual data rate may vary depending on environment and equipment.

What exactly are you asking for help with?  Or are you just using the term "virtual" loosely in reference to a miniport adapter?

Drivers for WLAN+BT (AX6 and BTv5) are here and support W10 through build 2004 as of today:

Maybe you can tell us more about the issue or error you are experiencing?

And, welcome to the forums!
