Title: NVME not showing in BIOS
Post by: teknology9 on November 09, 2020, 08:49:07 am
Hello all,

I have a Gigabyte B460-HD3 motherboard it has two connectors for M2 PCIe SSD's. I fitted a Samsung 970 Evo plus NVME to the M2Q_SB connector on the motherboard but it does not show up in the BIOS. Do you think the connector is faulty? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

But, when connected to the M2A_SB connector the Samsung 970 Evo plus NVME does show up in the BIOS.

Regards,

Greetings,
You'll have to test the port with another drive to determine if its faulty or not.

Hi and thanks for the reply.

I did contact Gigabyte support and did the following:

Cleared CMOS and then reseated the drive in the  M2Q_SB connector, this time it did show up in the boot section of easy mode but not in the M2 section of easy mode. I then went to the settings and in the NVME section it did show up, I also ran two tests whilst fitted to that connector and they passed.

When  I connected the drive to the M2A_SB connector it shows up in both easy mode and in the settings section under NVME. So whether it is a characteristic of the M2Q_SB connector I don't know.

Cheers and stay safe,

UPDATE

Hi, I have recently updated the BIOS and the drive now appears in the Easy Mode section. This was not the case before having recently changed the motherboard, so a new BIOS was the solution.

Thanks,
