Title: Warranty and water block?!
Post by: BoNfiRe on November 23, 2020, 07:25:15 pm
Just curious, what happens with the warranty if I got a 3080 and put a water block on it?

Greetings,
Basic warranty info can be found here:

Note, if the card failed due to a leaky water block or some other "modification", it could put your warranty in questions.  There would need to be evidence of this and a failure would have to be a direct result of a modification for a product not to be covered.

Here's an example.  You can put a tow hitch on your car.  If your exceed the tongue weight of the hitch or the towing capacity of your engine and the frame bends or the engine blows up, your warranty might be questioned.

I know how how feel.  I put a Corsair H80i V2 on my CPU.  Its above a video card I paid nearly $800 for.  If it leaks, my motherboard or card could die.  I have 2, they work great.  The performance is worth the risk to me.

If you are going to put anything water in your case, make sure its good quality and from a reputable manufacturer.

Thanks for that info. And yeah, I have a hard line custom loop all with EK and XSPC components. I've the same components since my pre order of my 1600X with no leaks since 2017 and various upgrades. I know things are unlikely to fail, but they do, and want to be covered as a 3080 is blinkin expensive.
