Title: Suggestions for an upgrade
Post by: Amadsuva on December 30, 2020, 09:00:27 am
Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my PC, the current spec I have is:

Motherboard: GA-MA790FXT-UD5P
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 955 - Socket AM3 (938)
Graphics card: Geforce GT430
Power Supply: 650W Cooler Master Bronze.
I'm not looking for top of the range components, something along the same spec or a little better performance wise. The PC is not for gaming, I am a Forex trader so I need something that can power 4-6 screens.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Greetings,
I see you posted in the AMD section.  Are you looking to stay with AMD or would you consider Intel?

Hi! Sure I would consider Intel.

Greetings,
Given the age of your hardware, almost any thing will be an upgrade regardless of platform.

The two biggest considerations are budget and what you need the system to do for you?

Examples;
Light Productivity - Web browsing and email, document creation, etc

Creative design - Same as above, but maybe with photography and video rendering

Gaming - All of the above + you want to play games that have more intense graphic requirements

Hi there,
Sorry for the delayed response. I would say Creative design would be the closest to what I'm looking for, also as stated above i'm a Trader so I need something that can power up to 6 screens. Budget-wise I'd start a £500 but would be willing to go higher for a bit of extra quality.
Thank you

Greetings,
When you say power up to 6 screens, do you mean browser windows or 6 individual displays?

If the latter, 500 pounds might not be enough to cover the cost of a system build capable of 6 displays.

Gigabyte does make cards that support 4 displays.  1080Ti and 1660 series might be a good choice.

Good morning,
That would be 6 individual displays, I'd be happy to go up as far as £750-£800.
Thanks
