Title: Platform Key

I am trying to make my desktop computer with a Z390 Aorus Pro MoBo compatible with Windows 11. There were 2 problems, the first being TPM not enabled. I have solved that one.
The second problem being that Secure Boot is not enabled. I went into CSM support and disabled it. However, when I go into Secure Boot I cannot enable it because I get the following message :-
Platform in Setup Mode. Secure Boot can be enabled when Platform is in User Mode. Repeat operation after enrolling Platform Key (PK).
I have been unable to find anything in the MoBo manual which refers to this.
Does anyone have any idea what I need to do, or perhaps I should forget about Windows 11.

What BIOS rev are you running?
What CPU are you using?

Platform Keys are used to secure the Secure Boot process between the hardware and OS.

You should be able to reset the keys and change the mode.   

Please answer the above and I'll look for more into about the process.

Thanks, the BIOS rev appears to be American Megatrends F8 27/12/2018. I have not updated the BIOS since I bought the MoBo. My CCPU is an Intel i7-8700 @3.20GHz.

If not already done, it might be helpful for you to review your manaual.  It details the various menu options needed for Secure Boot configuration.

The basics being:
CSM [Disabled]
Disable Legacy boot options and enable UEFI boot only
Resetting Platform Keys

CLR_CMOS should also do it.

What are you using to install w11?




When you get this resolved, I'd move to BIOS rev F10 or F11 (Use QFLASH)  I have 2 of these boards and am running both.  They are stable.

I have looked at the manual which is useless in trying to resolve this problem as it does not mention User Mode, nor are there any mentions of Platform Key.

Although I can disable CSM I cannot enable secure boot.

I think I will not bother about Windows 11 as I am now not convinced that there is any reason to install it. None of the new features seem to be worth bothering about.
