Title: Gigabyte B450M DSH3 BIOS update
Post by: Stormstout on October 25, 2021, 09:55:01 am
Hello!
I have a Gigabyte B450M DSH3 but I am a newbie in the technical department. Could someone advise please on how to update BIOS? How can I check what version I have (probably an old one as I never updated anything) and then how and where to obtain the newest version? Thank you for bearing with me!

Greetings,

There is only one hardware revision for your board 1.x

BIOS downloads for your board are here:

Note:
If you system is stable and running well, there is no reason or need to update.  BIOS updates are only needed to add support for hardware, improve compatibility or address security issues.

Also important, the latest or newest BIOS might not be best depending on your CPU.  If you do decide to update, I strongly recommend you stay with a BIOS that was  intended for your processor family.  I also recommend staying away from beta BIOS releases unless they specifically address an issue you are experiencing.  They have a letter at the end...

BIOS updates are not difficult to do, but should not be done arbitrarily just so you have the latest or newest available.  Its possible to upgrade yourself into instability or trouble.

Flashing.  Only use QFLASH.  Do not use @BIOS.  A 4 or 8GB USB stick can be used.  Format it FAT32.  Copy the BIOS file to the root of the stick, do not put it inside a folder.

Start your system, press and hold the <DEL> key.  When your BIOS display, you can tap the F8 key,  This will open QFLASH.  Creating a back up of your existing BIOS is optional, but recommended.  The flashing procedure is otherwise straight forward.

This is an older doc, but contains the basic steps:
