Hi everyone, could someone help me with this old board please? I am having issues with it not showing video on boot until I remove the cmos battery, when I then adjust the settings and save and exit, I then go back to where I was ie no video. I have changed the cmos battery for a new item but I can't think where else to look, it's like the settings cannot be written back to the bios. Where should I look next anybody? Thanks a lot in advance.

Can you check you motherboard number and post back please as I can't find any refernce to the board number you have given.

Hey DM there are two revisions of this Mobo.
Rev 2.x here: http://www.giga-byte.co.uk/products/product-page.aspx?pid=1756&dl=1#ov
Rev 1.x here: http://www.giga-byte.co.uk/products/product-page.aspx?pid=1678#ov
pompeyrodney:
have you tried to re-flash BIOS. Clearing CMOS doesn't always have the desired result and i have found that it is sometimes easier just to re-flash, whcih can quite often cure such problems.
Updated links for UK site.

Thanks absic, I don't know what went wrong but it just kept coming back with "not found".
In that case we need to know what revision the board is please, pompeyrodney?

No problem. Just think yourself lucky you're not using this Japanese laptop. I had to get my wife to translate the pages, to make sure it was the right board as this thing is displaying 感じ very frustrating and I will be really pleased when i can get back onto my own rig!

Thanks for the response everybody, much appreciated. As far as the revision I cannot see any rev1 or rev2 on the mobo itself, are there any differentiating features I should look for? In the pictures mine looks more like a Rev1 as the chipset orientation is different. Would it be easier for me to switch to the other bios chip and try that? Is there not a better way of clearing the bios without removing the battery?
Thanks a lot

The motherboard revision is printed on the left hand side of the board near the slots.

Hi,
You should find the Rev No printed on one of the edges of the motherboard. Usually it's the bottom left corner.
Removing the motherboard battery isn't difficult and it is the best way of guaranteeing there is no residual current in the motherboard when re-setting CMOS/BIOS.
