Title: Greetings and new build
Post by: tucansam on October 03, 2010, 10:15:50 pm
Hello all.

I'm building a new slim desktop to replace my aging 3GHz P4.

Gigabyte GZ-SPIM51-P0B mini-ITX case
150w AC-DC adapter and 160w PicoPSU
Gigabyte GA-H55N-USB3
i3-530
8GB RAM
Big Shuriken
Lite-On slim-line DVD burner in a Lian Li 5.25" to slimline + 2 x 2.5" bay converter
2.5" SSD
2 x 3.5" 1TB WD Greens

I am modding the case, as I will be using an 18lb 28" LCD on the monitor bracket.

17lbs of 1/8" sheet lead will be cut and glued into and under the case to add weight and stability.  In addition, two additional 60mm fan holes will be cut, next to the factory hole, and all three will be completely opened up for airflow and low noise.  All three case fans will be on a fan controller.  Finally, to facilitate airflow, holes will be drilled in the bottom of the case under the 3.5" bays, in the 3.5" cover plate, in the 5.25" Lian Li plate below the optical drive, and the bottom plastic lip under the drive bay cover will be cut out.

Will post updates.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I will be interested to see it progress. Don't forget when it is finished to put some pics on the forum under the Pictures of Members Computers in this section.  ;)
