I have not been able to find anything about battery life with the T1005M, I was wondering if anyone and or the admins could find out, I have heard is is a friend on another forum that it is a woefull 4 hours, even with the high capacity 6 cell battery.
I don't see anything about the battery life in the advertising and that makes me very very very scared, if I confirm it's only 4 hours I will have to cancel my order, because 4 hours is no where near enough and for 800 aussie dollars it's not worth the price.
Anyone have any idea on the battery life, an Admin should be able to find out.
Thanks.

I would say your best course of action would be to PM runn3R the gigabyte Admin of the forum and see if he can find out for you. ;)
-
Actually you'd be better off sending a PM to RuiPereira. He also works for Gigabyte and is the notebook guy. You can PM him here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=2

Thanks will message him, hows he at answering ?
Thanks.
Just sent how the question about the battery life, also sent message to my friend about where he saw this 4 hour rumour and or truth from.
Thanks.
-
runn3R is pretty good.
Rui might take a couple of days as he doesn't log on every day here.
-
Normally he will answer in the same way you contacted him but if he thinks it's a matter for general interest then he may post it too.
-
Sent to bot I await the answer :/
Thanks.

Heres a review.
Barely 4 hours, thats a FAIL, just cancelled my order.
Oh well I keep looking or a good 10.1 dualcore netbook.
Out.

Still would like to buy one, if the review is wong and it does get 8 hours, maybe they left blutooth on, ect :)
Would be nice if they had a 8 or 12 cell battery as an option, I thin the Atom dual core needs it, the 6 cell seems not to cut it.
I am still one of you, I have a Gigabyte 8800 GTS video card :)
Thanks.
/PS and a Gigabyte Mobo.
-
Hey you are always welcome anyway. Hopefully one of the Gigabyte people will get back to you with good news.
-
No one has answerd yet, two days and counting.
Maybe the gigabyte guy is ashamed about the crap batter life, I mean they say nothing about the battery life in the adverts at all, everything else but NOTHING At all ABOUT THE BATTERY LIFE.
Oh well will have to wait till some people start doing some reviews to know for sure I guess.

There is no point reading more into the situation then is necessary. To be fair they are busy people with other responsibilities apart from looking after the forum. They will answer your question as soon as they can I am sure. ;)

Hello Lyta,
Please check your inbox, I have replied via PM, the reason for the two day delay was becuase I had to check/confirm with HQ in Taiwan. I only received your message on 05 October 2010 @ 16:06, so I don't think its that bad ;)
Like I said, battery life is really dificult to say, although others do meantion battery life, you will find that you never really get what is advertised.
The T1005 supports USB3.0, which means even more power is needed, but switching off USB3.0 function can add aobut 70min extra.
If USB 3.0 is on----> battery life 402mins If USB 3.0 is off----> battery life 472mins.
But this also depends on what you using, such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LCD Brightness, HDD activity, graphics, etc…
This model is also availabe with a 4-Cell battery, but currently 6-cell is the biggest.
Thanks

Presumably you could even make it a bit more by installing a SSD instead of the HDD.
-
Check my mail and I shot off some questions to RuiPereira, will hopefully have some more answers soon and maybe I will un cancel my Purchase.
Looking promising.
Depends on the battery life and sound at the moment.

I don't think SSD's use that less power to make any difference myby 30 minutes if your luck, probably much less. 2.5 scorpio blue drives are very power iffecent.
Though I am sure the system will be MUCH MUCH more respnsive and boot up the OS in about 15 seconds, so not a total loss :)
Byes.
-
I'm very pleased with mine even though it's only SATA2 256Gb Corsair Performance. Made a big difference to my laptop in times and battery life. Now it's booting my main system and again it's very impressive.
-
Might get a 120 gig on for it, I know it will speed it up alot and if it helps battery life too, well MEH :)
I know I want to get an SSD for my NEW I7 PC build.

Its 4 hours, total waste of money.
Ill keep it and play with though, stupid me trusting Gigabyte reps on thius forum, they HE said 7 hours, LOL.
Must have had it hooked up to a car battery.
Oh well.
-
Yes, have you seen the size of batteries they use :o not very portable though! It's the same with car manufacturers I always wonder how they come up with those MPG figures. Must have a long downhill track I guess ;)
-
How much extra battery life did you get with the SSD ?
Thanks.
-
I really can't say as I never measured it or even tried to see how long I could get out of the battery. All I know is that it lasted longer by a noticable amount.
-
My 60 gig if it was a noticable amount means the netbook is even crappier for battery life out of the box than I thought or could even imagine.
4 Hours with Wifi on, thats HORRIBLE. I have to build myself a 12 cell battery to make this stupid thing even usefull :(
OH well, never trust Gigabyte, thats my motto from now on.

: / What about brightness of monitor? What are you doing to make it last 4 hours? You could even replace the cells in the battery with larger capacities to increase battery life, they usually use low/medium ones as standard. (My Laptop is 12 cell, but only 7200mAH o.O - MSI GT725)
-
Everything down everything off, and running in Max battery saver config. Everything you can do has been done, still only 4 hours.
Out.
