Pete, I think you need to check your units. 6.5MHz is SLOWER than almost any PC ever built except the original IBM XT. Meanwhile 6.5 Million MHz is 1000 times FASTER than these guys managed. :o

One thing this overclock certainly proves is there is still room to increase stock clock speeds. If they can do it at those low temperatures, how long before the figure out how to do it at higher temperatures?

I am guessing that within perhaps months AMD and Intel will both be launching chips clocked at or close to 4GHz stock. I've had my own PhenomII X4 955 breifly clocking at 4GHz by doing nothing more than upping the multiplier. I am guessing that chips with these speeds aren't sold at the moment mainly because the market isn't demanding it and it gives overclockers somewhere to go.

What makes that overclock more amazing to be is they did it with an AM2+ board and DDR2 memory. I wonder how far they could have gone with the Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P? Not only is it an AM3/DDR3 board, its also got the full Ultradurable 3 spec which should make keeping things cold even easier at these crazy speeds.
