Title: GA-880GA-UD3H board v2.1 overclocking with ddr3 1333
Post by: doodle333 on October 28, 2010, 06:12:04 pm
as title says I cant get this motherboard past 274 fsb with memory devider 4.00 to run at 1100 or over.I allso use amd thuban 1055T x6 (125w) and ddr3 1333 value ram Iknow thats all Icould get at the time.
So my question is is this a limitation when using that devider.
tanks for any help.
forgot to say that I have had this cpu running at 4.2 with just over 1.4volts.but on a ddr2 motherboard.

I'm assuming this thread is yours, too?

Myself, I don't really know how to help you but info from that thread could be useful.

All I can come up with is slowly going through your bios settings to try and pin down what's causing this. If you left your RAM with some headroom it shouldn't limit FSB overclocking. Have you tried adding more voltage to the CPU, FSB and RAM?

If nothing of the above works, then it could be some compatiblity issue at certain FSB / multiplier settings or you've reached a limit of your FSB overclock.

If you think it may be the RAM then it'd be best to check with some other, better sticks.

ye its mine too thoght to get more responce this way,and I think Ive found that if I lower Bank cycle time in bios from 33 to 25 clocks ime able to get higher for some reason.

well bought mysell some  G Skill F3-12800CL9-2GBNQ ,wich are on the compatability list and alls well ,Ive had FSB up to 340 and now have it at : 14x296 wich has been running for couple of days now .so cheap value ram isnt worth it if overclocking.

Yeah, it'd seem to be that way. From experience, I've had some value A-Data DDR3 1333Mhz which I replaced as soon as I found a nice deal. It didn't limit my CPU overclock ( though I didn't overclock by FSB ) but there was no overclocking potential in the RAM itself.

I don't know about other countries but in Poland that'd seem to be a common mistake. People tend to buy nice CPUs and GPUs, worse MBs, worse PSUs and crappy RAM. Then when they want to overclock they run into problems. With computers it's the same as with other stuff - you have to keep it all balanced.

Yes agreed! The problem tends to be all over the world as far as PSUs are concerned. People spend a fortune on good quality gear and then expect some crappy cheap PSU to run it all properly. When it fails and takes half of their system with it they can't understand why. Or the other common thing we find here is that people expect some tiny PSU to run all this heavy duty gaming kit and wonder why it won't start and don't want to hear that they should be using something a tiny bit meatier! Rant over.
