Title: GA-X58A-UD7 Mother Board Fan headers
Post by: dackadee on November 23, 2010, 04:00:45 pm
Hello All
As a new kid on the block, I am building a rig with a GA-X58A-UD7 Mother Board and Intel i7 980-X +  12 Gig Dominator ddr3 ram with fans.
the case that I am using is a Coolermaster 942.
I have the CPU to the CPU header and the Dominator Fans to the Sys fan 1/PWR Fan on the MB
My Question is
Which case fan should I connect to  Sys fan 2 that has Sense and speed control, and what other fans could or should I connect to these headers or not.?
Thanking you all in appreciation if you can help me with this ** Inexperienced Beginner's problem**

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte UK Forum.

Well it is of course a matter of persona; choice which fans to connect to where but depending on the fans I would ideally recommend using a fan controller like the Lamptron FCT which is due out shortly or one of the other makes that are similar.

The other option is to connect the fans directly to the PSU. Of course that way you lose the ability to turn them down but you do get the full cooling spec from them.

The thing is some of the larger fans nowadays draw a fair amount ot power and it is not unheard of for the motherboard headers to burn out.

Many Thanks Dark Mantis

I will now connect the fans to the PSU and connect a fan controller as recomended.  As with all the Fans going flat out word turn the case into a giant Vacum cleaner ?

So little time, so much to learn

Thanking you in appreciation
