Title: GA-MA78GM-S2H wake on modem problem
Post by: Jurana on December 22, 2010, 08:11:19 am
I have tried a couple of PCI modems (AOpen FM-56PX and Rosewill RNX-56AG) on my Windows Home Server system, and neither will wake the system from S3 Standby state on telephone ring.  Modem ring resume is enabled in Setup, and "allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" is checked in driver Power Management.  The Rosewill modem specifies that it supports wake-on-ring.  I am using that computer to receive occasional faxes and some voicemail.  I would like it to enter standby between these events, but I need it to wake up when the phone rings.  The system wakes up fine on keyboard or mouse input.  I would consider a creative solution to translating telephone ring to a wake-up signal if the normal wake-on-ring function won't work.

Thanks,
Jim

Have you tried it on S1 mode to see if it works then?

I hadn't tried it on S1.  It does wake from S1.  The power saving isn't as good as S3, of course, but better than always on.

Thanks,
Jim
