Title: Using EyeInfinity ( 3 screens )
Post by: F5BJR on January 18, 2011, 06:18:31 pm

I have HD5770 with 3 output ( 2 * DVI + Mini DisplayPort )

I search correct adapters for runnig 3 * screens ( 2 * DVI + a LCD TV with  HDMI ) in same time
I think that the good solution is :

The first screen to DVI port

The second screen with the Minidisplay Port  to DVI active adapter ( or DP to DVI active  + cable miniDP to DP )

The third screen ( TV LCD ) with my old ATI special adapter DVI to HDMI  for pass the sound

I cannot find adapters in France ...

Have you infos for this

Pierre

Hi Pierre

If I understand you correctly you are looking for an adapter for DVI-I to mini Display Port. Is that right?

Yes,  i search adapter miniDP to DVI active , i have the same but passive and  i cannot run the 3 * screen's in same time

I have found Accel adapters but price is very high ( 149,00 €  + postage , some 180 $ in France   ) !!

Solution for future is to acquire monitors with directly DP port ...

It certainly looks like it should do the job. Price is right too! I would suggest that you just check with them before ordering.  ;)

Adapter and cable are OK pass the video signals but ...

I always 2 * screens not 3 * screens  ( EyeInfinity )

And with  + cable miniDP + Adapter DP/DVI  active ( miniDP --> DP --> DVI --> Special ATI adapter DVI/ HDMI ) , i have not sound

DVI ATI adapter run fine because if i use normal graphics card direct DVI connector + ATI adpater HDMI  i have sound ok

Hi

Have you checked the settings in Control Panel/Realtech HD Audio Manager ?

For the audio with DVI / ATI DVI/HDMI adapter the sound is automaticlty routed to the TV LCD

With DisplayPort + adapters the Realtel Manager send an alert to connect rear sound to TV or similar message

That is not a big problem ( i have 2 * HD5770 with 4 * DVI out  )

I think the problem is not with the active adapter but with the XFX graphics cards

Exist 2 models ( mine with 2 * DVI + 1 miniDP 150 euros ) and another model with 5 * displayPort for some 250 euros
and that is possible that the EyeInfinity option is not programmed in BIOS with my low price cards !!

I have not found infos in the documentation

I have send a report to XFX  for this problem

That is not correct as far as I know Pierre. All Radeon cards from the 5xxx series on have eyefinity built in. Ican't imagine that XFX would have built a card and then crippled it's ability to use a feature built into the chip.

As to whether it runs on XP I don't profess to know. It is not something I had even thought about until now.

Hourrah ... found ...

I have started WINDOWS 7 and i have the 3 * screens detected

Just a little problem with the sound

1 - i have sound with special adapter ATI DVI / HDMI no problem if i tag in sound proprerty Realtek HDMI Output , i can choise also normal output or Digital ...

2 - with miniDP --> active adapter --> special ATI DVI/HDMI adapter no sound my 2 * HDMI Output are greyed ( red and not green )  HDMI
not important

Solution is to use DisplayPort for a monitor and not he TV

Pierre

* EyeInfinity is not supported by WINXP

* I search a solution for video in little WINDOWS on my first screen and also but in full screen with the TV not found mode Theater with the last drivers

a friend has send me infos for Theater run with 10.6 version , i download at this time for test

Well you seem to have cleared that up in  the end, well done! Obviously not a man who gives up.  ;D

So I take it that it doesn't work on XP then ?

I have tested with 3 * screens connected to the first graphics card HD5770

1 - DVI --> DVI screen
2 - DVI --> adapter DVI to HDMI ( special ATI adapter ) --> HDMI ( i have sound ok with my TV LCD )
3 - cable adapter miniDisplayPort to DisplayPort --> Dp to DVI ( active adapter by Sapphire ) --> DVI

All run fine also With 2 * HD5770 in Crossfire with WINDOWS 7

Only a problem i have no Option valid in Theater Mode
