Title: GA-890GPA-UD3H rev 2.0 and Exceleram Black Sark 1600mhz cl9?
Post by: Godzilla on January 20, 2011, 11:48:30 pm
Hello!

I have GA-890GPA-UD3H rev 2.0 and Exceleram Black Sark 1600mhz cl9 and Phenom II 965 c3.
Memory by default runs on 1333mhz and when i try to raise the 1600mhz and 9-9-9-24 1.65v (default)  computer crash on startup or after 1/2/3 minutes... (BSOD)

I tried the memory on Intel computer and working on the standard values (1600mhz 9-9-9-24 1.65v)

Is the problem with the board, or because board and ram are not compatible?

Best regards!!! :)

And how do I know if I have damaged the memory controller?

The first thing to do is load Optimised Defaults in BIOS. This will set the RAM to 1333MHz by default. If the system runs without lots of BSOD's or errors then your CPU is fine. I have Corsair Dominator RAM rated at 1600MHz but I have kept it to 1333MHz as the speed difference is negligible.
