So how is the replacement going to work? I spoke to the retailer I got the board from, and was told that gigabyte will handle the replacements. When will this happen? Some retailers already have the boards in stock, others are getting them tomorrow, so I guess gigabyte already has them available. Do I need to contact gigabyte?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.
I think the best way is to use the official form here: http://uk.gigabyte.com/press-center/news-page.aspx?nid=988
-
Yes i filled in the form and got an email from Giga UK saying they aknowledged it , but i dont want to be left to the hands of the retailer else i guarantee being without my PC for a week , i want an advance replacement the same as the other Manufacturers are offering and the same as Gigabyte offer in the US
-
To be honest I haven't heard that Gigabyte are offering an advanced replacement here or in the US but it may be true. You may well be correct I will have to ask about it.

Hi cinek
The procedure of swap in UK & IRL will be most probably as follows:
1) Our RMA dept will make email / phone call contact to arrange the swap by stating we are now in a position to swap the B2 into B3 MB and arrange a date.
2) Once date is confirmed, we will ship the new board to customer.
3) Our courier will then deliver the B3 motherboard and at the same time collect the B2 motherboard back to us.
The replacement shall start this week.

That is good news and at least means customers won't be without their systems for more than a day roughly. Quick too, I wasn't expecting it to start for a couple of weeks yet.
Just for anyone who needs to know runn3R, what about return packaging if they haven't got their original boxes still ?
-
That sounds good , will they collect from places like work , or will it have to be your home address ?
thanks

(...) what about return packaging if they haven't got their original boxes still ?
Users are asked to ensure their best as possible that original retail box plus all accessories are returned too. But if part of them is missing we will still accept it (for example in any packaging which protects the product properly during transportation).
That sounds good , will they collect from places like work , or will it have to be your home address ?
thanks
It can be work or home address, no problem.
P.S. Thanks andyr for your yesterday evening post at OCUK forum :)
-
No problem , I knew Gigabyte would come out with the best way to change these over!
-
It is good to know that everything is being done to make the changeover as painless as possible. You can rely on runn3R to sort things out.
-
Not sure when we can ring up though as one user on OCUK has been told end of the Month by gbtech when he called apparently.
Can you clarify when and who we call, Thanks Andy
-
I would suggest an email first and see what response you get.
-
Hi , seems like the swap out is starting , a guy on OCUK has had the email from gbtech to arrange the exchange :)
-
that's great, i hope it will start quickly in my country too. my roommate has ud4
-
I understand that the exchange has started and so customers that are affected should be notified as soon as possible. Please just wait until you are contacted if you have applied.

Hi,
Does it seem that replacement procedure is different in many countries? For example polish service team claims that I have to return mobo to Gigabyte first, then I have to wait (nobody knows how long) for them to send me new one. Is it ok? Does it fit into Gigabyte media statements that "Gigabyte will do everything to make the replacement procedure as comfortable as possible"?
Please let me know where I should look for any help.

You will have to take up any issues with the local Gigabyte office or head office in Taiwan if you feel that you are not being dealt with fairly.
