Title: Returning motherboard questions.

Hello, back in January I purchased a:
Gigabyte P67A-UD3 Intel P67 Chipset (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) B2

Now I made a thread on a different forum with the issue and I have the faulty Sata 2 ports.
Then I went on contacted "Overclockers" (The store I bought this motherboard from), I was then told to contact Gigabyte in order to send it back.

Will Gigabyte replace this motherboard for me even though I purchased it at a different place?
If so, then how do I go out sending it back?

I can provide full details, with the purchase of this Motherboard if needed.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

The normal policy is for the purchaser to return the item to the retailer for service or repair. If you have a problem with that then sometimes Gigabyte will act directly.

That is what I was thinking.

Why would Gigabyte take it back if I didn't purchase through them directly.

The person I spoke to from overclockers said that, "It is a recalled item therefore I need to contact Gigabyte."
But surely my consumer rights are to be able to send it to "Overclockers" and they deal with the issue, right?

 It's a worrying trend that Etailers are doing in the UK ... Stating there's a 28 day back to base policy then goes over to the manufacturer after that period.....as far as I'm aware they haven't got a leg to stand on......just more of the descending standards of customer service were seeing every here!

 Overclockers can have some amazing prices due to bulk orders, They also should have a customer purchase agreement some where on there site, would be worth reading the fine print!!!

Yes in UK retail law your contract is with whoever you purchased the item from. The retailer can put whatever they like into the small print but it is worthless as consumer law prevails.

I sent them another RMA message, stating that I have the rights to send this back, and that they should deal with the problem.

Must be your lucky day as I have had a word with the company and they have agreed for you to return the board direct to them. Contact the RMA dept - mail to returns@gbt-tech.co.uk .

This was the answer I just received from runn3R:

Very good question:  "Why would Gigabyte take it back if I didn't purchase through them directly.?"  - because we are good guys !!!

I think that says it all. 8)

It would be nice if people let the rest of us know once an issue is sorted so we can judge how we're likely to be dealt with if we ourselves have to RMA etc.

 Not entirely sure I understand the question!..... beside reading it here, ....how do you want to be notified, email, text message ?

 What I'm saying is , all the tools are here, you just have to backtrack and read,read read.

Sorry Alan, my bad for the unclear posting.  What I meant was people frequently post long & detailed multi post issues, everyone tries to help out & then once a good potential solution is posted the original poster doesn't come back & post about their resolution!  (Not an issue thats specific to this forum BTW).

 Human nature Unfortunately, Generally human a lazy b**gers ....Find the easiest path to effect a solution and then move on ! some do , but there far and small in number.

 with the present system it means you have to find a post that's relivent, go to the bottom and track back to the solution. Gigabytes "Search" Tab  actually uses a pretty advanced engine and needs to be used more often by people looking for solutions to problems.....Pop in a search term like "Flickering" or "Marvell" will take you to an indexed list with a descending  percentage of relativeness.

 A coloured window denoting "The Fix" would work well but again this would mean someone would have to troll thousands of posts marking hundreds of pages..........Are you volunteering ;D

As has already been discussed there in an ideal world everyone would return and give a run down on how they fared and what the fix entailed.

I am afraid though that often this isn't the case and once fixed we fade from their minds quicker than the problem. It is something that will never be changed but we can hope.
