Dear community,
After a power outage, the ET6 software became unresponsive, thus I tried to uninstall it. The program would not uninstall/reinstall. I get the following error message: «Error: -1605. This action is only valid for products that are currently installed». When trying to download a new version, I am presented by the same Installer window, repeating the already given options.
I have tried the follwing:
1. Remove all folders/registry entries related to all Gigabyte software.
2. Repeated messages to GB support, who didn't reply in accordance with the information already given
3. Installing various monitoring utilities with speed fan controlling capabilities.
Before the power outage, the ET6 software handled fan operation nicely. Not too noisy, even when using applications putting a considerable strain on the cpu. Temperature never exceeded 61 C. Now, trying to run similar applications will set off the computer in noisy fit which appears to be on the scale of a jet engine! GB support claims a Phenom II always will behave like this... ::)
Usually I am able to resolve problems like this, but there seems to be some reference left to the uninstaller, that I am uncapable of removing. Any ideas?
Thank you!

Hi
The trouble with a lot of this type of software is that it entangles itself deeply in the system and is hard to get rid of when you want to. You could try Revo Uninstaller on the deepest setting and see if that would work. It is quite a powerful utility. Failing that you ar edown to a manual search of the registry or a complete format and reinstall.

DM is right on again......Revo-Uninstaller is trusted by me as well to root out even the hardest de-install , The pro version is available for download and is a full function app for 30 days
The real fix is a UPS......Has saved me countless times with brown-outs and black outs, including a house supply of 261V for near on 7 months before they fixed it!

!SOLVED!
Hello girls and guys,
Thank you for your feedback, but you're off target. The solution was deleting all references in the Install Shield folder, located in the Program Files directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information
This lead to an instant fix.

Hi there,
whilst deleting items from the install folder or making other registry tweaks will work, it should only be done if you really know what you're doing. I have seen too many PC's that have fallen over because user's have deleted things they really shouldn't have done when playing around in the "hidden" folders and such like.
The use of programmes such as Revo-Uninstaller is a much safer option for those who do not understand how the operating system installs programmes and the things that are written to "hidden" folders on the hard drives. I mean how many people really know what folders with names such as: {8C20787A-7402-4FA7-BF25-6E5750930FDC} or {8833FFB6-5B0C-4764-81AA-06DFEED9A476} are actually referring to? Delete the wrong folder and you could end up having problems later on when trying to uninstall an other programme.

Well I am glad to hear that you managed to find the solution but I too would reiterate what has already been said and playing around with the system files can be a very dangerous affair.
