For those of us waiting to get our hands on the new AMD processors it looks as if we will be hanging on until September.
For more info read here: http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/cpu/display/20110530130539_AMD_Needs_to_Boost_Clock_Speed_of_FX_Bulldozer_Chips_Sources.html

AMD, you are breaking my heart!
And I am wondering if you are for real or in dream land:
"AMD itself believed that its multi-core Zambezi FX CPUs will allow it to compete head-to-head with Intel's high-end Core i-series "Sandy Bridge" processors that can sell for as much as $300 and more per chip."
What say ye Absic?
Doubting Soar

Hi Soar,
I say the proof of the pudding will be in the eating!
But, if I am being totally honest, I don't feel that AMD will really match Intel's higher spec'd chips....... for the time being.
-
I too read the blurb about it being put back and that isn't good news for you guys. I know how I feel when I am counting down to a release date only to have it pushed back.
I hope it will be a big success but I can't honestly see it actually matching the capabilities of Intel's top line.

shame, my friend has come into some money and wants me to do a build for him. Was going to be bulldozer :(
-
Well you could of course build the rest of the system to be compatible with the Bulldozer chip when it appear. All you will have to do, assuming it s 990 motherboard is a BIOS flash when the time comes.
-
could do that and persuade him to buy a 965 for now and I'll buy that off him when he gets BD lol
-
Sounds like a plan to me ;D Should work all round and everybody will be happy.
-
It seems as if the wait for the new AMD AM3+ FX Zambezi (Bulldozer) processors will be over soon. Check here for more info: http://lenzfire.com/2011/07/amd-bulldozer-release-date-finalised-24475/
Personally I am looking at the FX-8170 for my own system but I might have to wait a little longer for that one to hit the shelves. :'(
-
I agree absic the 8170 sounds like the CPU of choice. At least the release is on the horizon now. ;)
-
And Im lost as to which one I will choose, but I might base that on what I can afford
-
I think that often most of us do the same and just end up buying the best we can afford. It might be different if money wasn't an object. ;)
-
If money wasn't a problem I'd have an Intel rig!...... Only kidding. ;D
-
;D ;D ;D
We all might be pleasently surprised when Bulldozer finally comes along.
-
Latest piece of news I can find on Bulldozer: http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2011/9/1/gigabyte-leaks-six-amd-bulldozer-launch-models-%28sku%29.aspx (though I fear it just repeats what you already know)
-
CChaos: Yes, it does seem as if we really are a step closer to the release of Bulldozer.
The last semi-official piece of news I managed to extract from AMD was that Bulldozer would be released near the end of September (19th?) so that AMD could keep to their timetable of having them on the shelves in the 3rd quarter of the year.
The lack of information even at this stage does make me wonder though, if they will be delayed a little longer. Usually, if a release is only 2 weeks away, you would expect to get a few leaks and at the moment, the silence is deafening. I just hope this silence is due to some very good security measures and not because there is going to be a further delay.
-
Well I wouldnt call it a bad thing. Even a certain phone company tends to go all quiet near launches of phones/accessories they make. In fact they dont even announce what country they have released that product to. I cant imagine it being rather different in the computer world.
This isnt the only thing Im waiting for a release of (hopefully) this month ;)
-
Hi Friends, :D
An idea like that.
Having a computer cpu AMD and Intel in another.
As there will be the best of both world. ;D
And we can test and overclock. Or Bench. :P
