Title: GV-R587UD-1GD help
Post by: Penetralia13 on June 16, 2011, 12:29:18 pm
I own a GV-R587UD-1GD as you have realized from the title ;D The problem i m having is very weird. Sometimes, not always, after trying to restart my pc ( i m on Windows 7) once upon boot and windows logo appears, a weird sound comes from the gfx like "sqeeeek" and monitor goes black there is no signal display BUT the pc enters windows normally, i can hear windows sounds and everything. It is not a driver issue i m on latest drivers, and this problem pre-existed with older drivers. I ve also updated to F8 BIOS but still no luck. And its not a PSU issue i own a TAGAN 800W which runs a power hungry 9800 gx2 with no problems at all. This might also happen just upon boot, when Gigabyte logo shows ( i own a ep45 qd6 motherboard) same sound from gfx "sqeeeeeek" and no signal. In order to fix this problem i have to pull the gfx off the pc tower for a while and put it back, sometimes it works sometimes it does not. Its driving me crazy, does anyone have any ideas?

Edit: i found this threat here http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,5427.msg43726.html#msg43726 i ll give it a shot i hope it works

Hi

You fail to mention what the monitor  is that you are using. I only mention this as the only time i have heard that type of sound is when a monitor was being overdriven by the graphics card and it was trying to display a resolution that wasn't possible.

Hi thanks for the reply. Monitor is Samsung Syncmaster P2450

I really don't think its a resolution issue because the problem was occurring also on my old monitor, i changed it about a month ago. Also there is display then the monitor goes off. When the pc enters windows normally with no problem the gfx does not make that "sqeeeek"ing sound.

Perhaps you could make a video of it and post it on one of the online depositories so we can see and hear what is happening.

It seems its a BIOS issue. When using F8 this problems occurs. On F7 or F6 there is no such problem. I tried F7 1st then F6 and then back to F8, where the problem started again. The sound the gfx makes is hardly noticeable, but i can try and make a video if you wish.

Probably not needed then at this time. So is there any reason you can't use one of the previous BIOSes for now until the F8 is fixed ?

You can ask GGTS for help and at least make sure that they are aware of the problem.

Just enter your email address and click on the language of choice.

Please expect several days for a reply.
