Title: One long "beep" problem

Lately I have periodically this problem, when I post there's one long beep sound and system wont start. After 5-10 times pressing the restart button I ll start but maybe I ll freeze later (playing a game or just do nothing).

In the manual there's no explanation about one long beep.
Is it drivers problem? Or is it about graphics card or memory?

Hi,

I would try reseating your video card, if that doesnt work try reseating memory, if more than 1 stick try one ay a time.
If you have another video card you could try that.

obviously try what tazman_75 has said but, have you updated any of your other components recently or changed your system configuration?

So, a long beep doesnt means something standard. And its not about drivers.
I ll reseat card and ram...

I'm not aware of one long beep meaning anything specific but I have encountered this myself and the problem seems to have been due to the graphics card not being recognised properly during the POST phase. I'm afraid I can't be more specific than that as I still haven't got to the bottom of the problem and my graphics card is on it's way to Taiwan for Gigabyte to run some further compatibility tests.

There have been instances though, where one long beep has been due to RAM issues, which only confuses the problem further which is why tazman_75's advice about trying to reseat things is good.

If everything has been working fine then the only other cause could be a hardware update or change to the configuration of your HDD's and any add-on cards which is why I asked if you have made any recent changes to your system, such as a BIOS update, new HDD, SSD or DVD/CD Burner, something like that.

Usually any other beep codes other than the standard ones that are listed in the manual  are to do with the memory. I hasve come across many unlisted ones and 90% of the time it is memory problems.

Well, case closed.
Its a problem I also had a couple of years ago but meanwhile forgotten. That damned Sileo case makes short circuit with screws in ram's side(or their support base). The Giga mobo has 3 screws hole around ram, I had empty two of them and a loosen screw in the other. I removed it completely and now its ok.

pleased you managed to find the problem and that it didn't cost anything to fix. That's always a good result!  :D
