GA-M61PME-S2P is an absolute joke. I got one yesterday and it doesn't go with my AMD Phenom X4 9650 even though the sockets are the same.

BIOS update.

Cheap Gigabyte boards are the best. I remember doing the full OC trick with an E2180 and a P31-DS3L to 3.3Ghz on air :D

Last 1 I did was a P43-DS3L and an 5200 - 4Ghz :D

Looks like someone forgot the golden rule. CHECK THE CPU SUPPORT LIST. Just because a processor is pin compatible doesn't mean it will work. In this case the list does not include the Phenom X4 9650, so unless there has been a BIOS update to include this chip its not going to work. Regardless of the processor or board, checking the list should be the FIRST thing to do before checking features, performance or possibly even price otherwise you can easily end up with a rig that won't boot.

And I can confirm that I did the Same ordered a AMD 9850 and the board only Supported the AMD 9750 and down AlWAYS remember when building a computer check the spec and what it can handle and then make sure it's what you want if not find what can handle what you want then CHECK AGAIN and go for it
